COERR, with coordination of Child Protection Organizations, organized the Self-Protection Training in Ban Mae La camp during April 29-30, 2019 for 46 refugee youth, and in Ban Nupo camp during May 9-10, 2019 for 51 youth.These target groups also included some at risk youth who did not attend school due to family or behavioral problems.
The training concerned the topics on knowing about self-esteem and needs to protect oneself; possible risk and danger factors and indicators; how to protect themselves; how to ask questions to ensure safety; how to refuse to enter the risk situation or isolatated location; awareness about child trafficking and communicating for help when needed; thinking and considering in whatever they will do in order to live normally and safely, etc. It was also useful that youth understood the contents and were able to transfer their understanding to friends and neighbors to prevent any child trafficking attempts.
